Just got the kit today.  Top plate looks great!!

3. questions:

1.  How do I download the manual?  Where is it on the site?

2.  As an upgrade to the 630V Solen, will a 600V cap work?

3.  Do I still have to really clean the top plate before clearcoating it?

There will no doubt be more questions - been a few years since I built one of these.

1. Either from the link in the order e-mail or by logging in to your shopping cart account.

2. Probably.

3. I'm not sure how many people have clearcoated the brushed finish. It may end up looking kind of odd either way, but cleaning first is definitely a good idea.

Hello Glynn,

I would strongly recommend cleaning the top plate with acetone if possible, while wearing gloves of course.

The gloves will keep the acetone off your hands, and the oil from your hands off the plate.

Some clear coats will tolerate oils, others will fish eye around the spot.

If you're going to paint or powder coat the panel with a solid color, I would just sand it with some 400 grit paper, then clean and call it good.
