Knife collectors anyone?

I know it is Ot, but I know there are a few folks here who likes knives.....

Long story short, wife calls me up while in a thrift store and sees a JFK folding buck knife... she doesn't get the name. She says the handle was blue and white, with the 3 Kennedys on it.... I told I had no clue and to hold off on purchasing it.


Let me know what you think,, she is in a mood to start "collecting" stuff again...want to make sure she gets quality instead of quantity...

Well with the title of this sub-forum being called "General" & it says that anything and everything discussed here, whihch it seems to imply anything as you put it, (non-audio related).  Where does your comment help in answering my question.

Also the reason I asked here is, I have seen post on the bottlehead forum over the years posted here and thought someone would might have a real response besides your flippant and persnickety response that did not help in the least.

So can you answer my question?

Sorry if I offened you you in any way. Since the forum has I new design, I offered an idea that is used succesfully in other forums. It is quite common to have an Offtopic section in  addition to specific On-topic catagories.  Using General in the meaning of Offtopic is confusing to me,and possibly others too..I would expect General to mean General Audio.
That was my only point..

Regarding knifes I am not a collector,even if I have a  nice Tollekniv. quite similar to this one but with nicer wood

Generally in the world of knifes the craftsmanship of the steel (think Kramer) or the scarcity of a specific type (original Katana) are the governing factors of a knifes value. Commemorative Buck knifes, while interesting in a historical sense, have no great value in the world of knifes. In a hundred years that may not be true. If you find the knife interesting or it has some family history that would create an intrinsic value greater than its market value that might be a better motivation to buy it.
Many of our homes are "cluttered" with audio gear that the significant other might not find valuable.
Bottom line, if the woman finds it interesting, it won't break the bank, you don't care and it will fit in a drawer...

I don't collect them, but I've made a few handles for blades (Helle) I've bought.  These are knives that I use outdoors.  They are made to fit my hand comfortably for long periods if need be.
