kaiju operating temperatures

So after installing my Mundorf silver/oil caps, I read a few posts about caps and temperature limits. Got a temp probe and am measuring the temperature inside the kaiju. The probe is situated on the cap between the cap and the wire wound resistor. I figure this is the hot spot.  Amp has been running for a couple of hours. Room temp is 71.  The temp is right around 100 F.   

My base is a bit deeper than stock but I doubt that makes much difference. I have the standard feet so it is possible a bigger gap could provide a bit more airflow. At any rate, seems like a comfortable margin. Maybe if a put a really hot musician on . . .

Thanks for posting - it is very reassuring to have field measurements that validate the design objectives!

I try to design for an internal temp of 140F (60C), and hope the venting will keep it under that.

Sure. Let me know if there are other spots that would be useful to measure. I mainly wanted to see if the caps were being exposed to excessive heat.

Hotter day - 85 indoors, the probe is up on the .1 caps - after about 5 hours of running, the temperature is 112.6.

Still a comfortable margin from 55C I suppose

If it's 85 degrees F inside your house, will you really be running your system? (That's hot!)

Yeah, I know!  It only gets hot in the late afternoon as my house is in full western sun exposure.  I should get out but I think my caps are finally breaking in, things are sounding pretty awesome.

Blame it on this crappy California weather, of course, once the summer hits and the coastal fog rolls in, it will be in the 50's again.
