I am about to order the Eros Phono kit.  I also need to replace my cartridge.  Which cartridge will be well matched to the Eros.  I listen to classic rock, jazz, blues and occasionally country and classical.  I would like to keep the price on the cartridge below $400. I will be using this on my MMF-5 turntable.

Thanks in Advance!!

What cartridge are you replacing? For what reason is it being replaced?

Goldring 1012. Stylus is worn out.

Same combination - and curious.  I think my cart is ok but i'd not be opposed to upgrading or matching to the Eros.

The Goldring 1012 will work fine with the Eros. It has a user-replaceable stylus, so if all you need to do to have a functional cart is replace the stylus, then replace the stylus.

I would recommend upgrading to the 1042 which should plug into your existing 1012 body.  I loved that combo on my old MMF-5.  Price may have gotten above $400 today, but you'll love it.

I found a great deal on an Ortofon M2 Bronze locally.  I bought it.  Back in the old days I loved the Ortofon sound.  I will report how it sounds once the Eros is up and running.
