Yes, another Eros sings.

I had the same resistance measurements that Rublyow, grosen, JKay and Sugar Man did (thanks all for posting those--that helped a lot after I had my minor freak-out, trying to figure out where ~620 kiloOhms came from at A4, B4, C4, and worried over all the other various slightly-high measurements.) Anyway, after reassuring myself that things were OK, I tubed up, plugged in, and measured voltages, which were all fine.

I'm listening to Kate Bush's new live album now, and it sounds pretty good so far (I'll put on a familiar album soon, but I can already hear 'new' stuff.) Obviously the Eros only has about 15 minutes of 'break-in' time so far hahaha. The build is dead stock at the moment, and I'm upgrading from a Rega Fono Mini A2D. (I'm a bit of a miser at times.) My TT is a Rega RP1 that's been modded out of recognition (again--miser tendencies.)

Time for a dram of scotch to celebrate.

Thanks again all. Bottlehead--for a lovely kit. All you posters for posting everything. It helps tremendously.

Mary.

I had the seduction and upgraded to the Eros. Major improvement.  The Eros is great and if the modification bug hits you go for the capacitor upgrades.  Check the site for the modifications.  I installed Russian teflon caps.  A big improvement in soundstage and overall definition.  Plus, the bass is a lot more concise.  I went with the Russian caps because they received a number of recommendations and were reasonably priced.  Anyway enjoy, Bottlehead products are the bomb and the community is great if you get into making modifications.

I'll try to get some photos taken (and up) soon. The look is pretty canonical: hammered bronze on the plate and bell, Tried and True on the base.

I had read the various threads on the Russian FT3 teflons (I've used the PIO K40Y-9 in different applications in the past, and also the inexpensive Obbligatos--I definitely go for the bang-for-your-buck options, so the FT3s look good to me!) I'll likely wait a few months before I do that.

The rack is a Salamander, so I only assembled that--in retrospect, it would be easy to copy their design and build your own, but I was pressed for time when I got that rack (plus, every now and then, I will buy things so that companies like that stay in business hahaha)

The phono shelf is a common IKEA hack: I cut down a LACK table top to size and placed it on wall brackets. I just had to be careful to get it leveled, but that was easier than I expected (bought shims in advance but didn't need to use them.)

So Rega lost a bit of money when I didn't buy their $200 phono shelf, but I'm sure they'll get more money from me in the coming years.

Mary,

Thank you for the information. I have seen a number of sites that show equipment racks that use the Ikea Lack table, but none for a wall mount. I know that it will come in handy when I move my turntable and Eros.
