The latest version of windows 10, creators edition now has native support for USB 2.0 audio.  I had no problem getting the DAC to work with it.  However I was unable to get Hi Rsz files to play.  The DAC would show the change in sample rate but no sound.  I amusing Jriver and am not sure if this is the something with the windows driver or my software.  Not a huge deal since I only have a couple hi rez files.
I have found this much more reliable than the XMOS driver available in the manual.

Interesting.  I have never had an issue with the XMOS driver at any sample rate, and use direct WASAPI output from my music player Foobar so it does switch rate depending on the source file it is playing.  I must double check which driver its using as i updated to the Creators Update a few days ago.  Either way, everything still works :)

One other small issue is that when the DAC is attached to USB the computer screen saver will not start

I agree, I would try Foobar just as another point of reference to see what's going on.  There are some pretty important details in setting up the software to get high resolution files to play back properly, and some fiddling with software is almost always required.

Solved the screen saver problem. When plugged in under HID devices the DAC shows up as "HID-compliant consumer control device" in the device manager (does not specifically as DAC, just the consumer control device)
Disabling that device fixes the screen saver issue and any sleep issues for he computer
