Run 8 ohm configured OT1 on temp basis into 16 Ohm speakers?
« on: September 27, 2017, 05:26:39 AM »
I plan to install speaker impedence selector switching in my Paramounts and the parts recommended in this forum are on their way.  At this loint, my Paramount 1.1 with stock output transformers are soldered at 8 Ohms and using 300B tubes.  Will it hurt equipment to run these amps into my newly aquired 16 Ohm Altec A7/828 on a temporary basis till my parts arrive? :-X
VPI Classic Signature turntable with ADS and Lyra Skala cartridge.  Eros 2.  Audio Note DAC 2.1 Signature.  BeePre with BeeQuiet and Paramount 1.1 monoblocs into A7 VOTTs or Nagoaka folded horns.

Not a problem. There will be a small reduction in peak power (~2dB?) but the distortion will be a bit less. Neither is a big deal, especially with your high efficiency speakers.
