Finished the BeeQuiet today. Sounds great, as with every other stepped attenuators kit I’ve installed from Bottlehead. I painted around the white edge of the identification plate a bit with a Testors enamel paint marker, and I think it gave it a little more of a finished look.

On its quietest setting it’s a little louder than I’d want. Is there an additional mod I could make to attenuate further?

If you are using the BeePre with the Kaiju, then I would turn the trimmers way down on the Kaiju, then that will give you more range on the BeePre and it will reduce the impact of microphonics on your listening experience.

I can absolutely help you adjust the steps, but the above solution will take a few seconds of your time and has too many positive consequences to ignore.

Actually, this has two benefits. I have the Stereomour running the tweeters and have been wondering recently whether the disparity in wattage between the Kaiju and Stereomour has an impact on the sound but haven't spent time investigating. Now I can zero out both amps separately and know for sure.

Jameson,
As expected another attractive project, the all black overlay looks cool.

The original overlay for the SII MourQuiet is Perspex acrylic. Same for the BeeQuiet?

One of the bottlehead guys would have to answer that. I thought it was a dense foam but it just as easily could be acrylic. That’d probably make more sense.

Same stuff for all of the overlays. It's called laser engraving substrate and it's usually acrylic. Don't know the brand of the material in those because we have them made. When I make panels myself I use Duets by Gemini metallic finish substrate. The pic is a prototype of a 7" low torque tape reel I made. It's engraving substrate flanges mounted on a NAB tape hub.

Once again, good looking preamp Jameson.
Thanks for the info Doc. One of the up sides to the internet is the simplification of finding and hooking up with companies/people who can help customize just about anything.
