As I audition new/old bands and discover some seriously cool music (to me anyway) and/or even the new 45 rpm vinyl reissues  of classic albums, ie. hoffman etc. I would like to hear reviews and the like to keep me abreast of a broader music scene than I would not normally know about...so, any cool new discoveries??   great new albums of old favorite bands?? Great concerts you have just seen?? Reviews on said vinyl reissues or HD tracks reissues that are MUCH better than the originals etc... I would love to hear about it....  Thank you

Just an aside.  I discovered Edgar Meyer about 1989 in Strength In Numbers (one awesome album).  It turns out he is a Junior and his father is a well known Classical musician in his own right in Oak Ridge, just outside Knoxville where I live.

Both are pretty amazing.

Just an aside.  I discovered Edgar Meyer about 1989 in Strength In Numbers (one awesome album).  It turns out he is a Junior and his father is a well known Classical musician in his own right in Oak Ridge, just outside Knoxville where I live.

Both are pretty amazing.

Edgar Meyer, Ron Carter, Christian McBride, Charles Mingus....
Bass players/composers are some of my favorite musicians.
BTW Cafe Blue (like a lot of Patricia Barber's work) is minimalist by nature - predominate with bass and precussion.

Currently listening to Cream's boxed set - Those Were the Days. The initial couple of songs left me disappointed, but it became a lot better for me and I no longer know why I was disappointed to begin with. Really excellent band.

Just received Analogue Productions/Blue Note reproduction of Stanley Turrentine's Up at Minton's.  I have been trying to buy more Jazz and I have always enjoyed Stanley Turrentine.  I really enjoyed this LP, even though it is a live album the sonics are really clear and the soundstage is great.  I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys Jazz and Bebop.

If you love My One and Only Thrill you will find her album "Worrisome Heart" very much of the same flavour they both sound just heavenly out of my hot rodded Crack running a GEC 6as7g with the HD650's 

She also has another album due for release June 1st 

Edit just had a quick look to see if anything from it was out yet and found this video on Preacher Man from the new album and can only say if the album is anything like the quality of production shown in the video its going to be pure class.
