I stand corrected sir.

Hmmm.  Here is the cover photo of the Speedball manual, which shows the orientation of the transistors matching mine:

Try a wire stripper setting for 12ga wire to strip the outer jacket.

Q1a is mounted backwards, thats one problem.

Thanks!

Any tips on stripping the shielded cables? Maybe I need new tools but when I tried to strip the outer jacket, the inside cables got cut too.

Built Crack yesterday.  Tested and worked well.

Just installed first half of Speedball.  None of the four LEDs on the Speedball's small board light up; the two original LEDs on the Crack's 9-pin socket work fine.  I'd be shocked if I overheated the four small-board LEDs when soldering; they got a lot less heat than the 9-in socket LEDs. I am using a Hako digital iron at 650 and Cardas Quad Eutectic, and I have a good bit of soldering experience.

Got the following, ostensibly nominal test voltages:

Terminal     Voltages (DC)
OA                      80.8V
IA                     176.2V
B-A/B                      0V
IB                     176.5V
OB                      80.5V

I would love to include photos, but I can't figure out how to either directly include images or share imgur links in a post.  Please feel free to clue me in!

Kaiju Stereo 300B amp / Kaiju - IEC Socket Replacement
« Last post by hpleung on Yesterday at 02:09:35 PM »
Hi,

I pulled on my power cord, and the IEC socket came out of the chassis. I think I need to replace it.

What is the specification of the IEC socket used by the Kaiju?

Thanks.

Mainline / Almost there - KREG Voltage issues.
« Last post by Art Andrews on Yesterday at 12:18:46 PM »
I believe I have passed every check test until the very last one. According to the manual, the KREG Regulator Board voltage should be 8-12V mine are 3.6 and 4.11.

I also have only 4 of the LEDs working (and they are so dim you can only see them with the lights out). Interestingly, because the boards are flipped, it is the LEDs on the same side of each, which I feel should be telling me something.

I have gone back over the solders and the wiring. Maybe I am repeatedly missing something, but I can't tell what is wrong or where to go from here.
