Kaiju Stereo 300B amp / Re: Kaiju with Moreplay..

A little research on the matter: Seems that a 3db increase in output gain from the Moreplay over the PreBee equates to about 1.4x louder at the speakers.

I guess that answers that.

Kaiju Stereo 300B amp / Kaiju with Moreplay..
« Last post by Dzrout on May 13, 2025, 10:21:18 AM »
I built a Kaiju and PreBee2 recently and I do really like both.

The Kaiju has DC filiment supply and the PreBee does not have any upgrades.

I decided to swap the PreBee2 for my Moreplay, just to see.

I get A LOT more volume out if the system with the Moreplay than the PreBee2.

Is that to be expected? Or did I do something wrong with the PreBee build?

Crack / Re: Choke specs for the Crack

You would need to redesign the power supply and use three chokes that are different than the two you already have.

Thank you, Paul. If the first two chokes are replacing the two 270 ohm 5W resistors, where in the circuit could a third choke be acceptable and would it call for the same value of choke?

More chokes will further reduce the presence of noise from the power supply.

Just to clarify before I order, I want two right?

I don't know, I could see situations where 1, 2, or 3 of these chokes could be used.  The specifics are up to you.

I'm aware I'm quoting a comment from 2014, but what kind of situation would call for a third choke and would there be any benefit to having that third or even the second choke in a Crack?

Nice, a built in safeguard!  I figured it was something like that everything looks like it should.  I just usually wait until the very end to install any feet, I’ll just move them up the list.

Thanks
Tim

The rubber feet that go on the wood base are not optional components.  If you are using the wood base without the rubber feet, then things are going to get super hot on the inside.  Having the heatsink protrude like that is a good way to ensure that the feet are stuck on, and if they aren't, the board will push the chassis plate up a bit out of the base and make a new cooling slot on its own ;)
