Ya, unfortunately that still is the situation I am dealing with-   After going through and taking all those pictures and marking up the pdfs with the resistance measurements last night, I am more perplexed .

What do you think is my next step?

Just got back from a trip. I checked, and sure enough, the pot pins were the issue. I misread the directions. Corrected, retested, biased, and now, for the first time, listening to my newly finished amp! Thanks, Paul.

The A4 & B4 terminal values are still off- A4 is still reading at 25 @ 40k and B4 was reading 80 @ 400k-
Is this still what's happening?  This isn't really possible if all the resistors measure properly.

Thanks! I'm pretty much just the photographer on this project. Most of the credit goes to my daughter Kate who worked up the new look and layout (she does this on her job for some pretty big companies), and our intrepid IT man Josh Perelli who put in long hours getting all the updates done and debugged.

Alright- I marked up everything from the previous resistance checks, from the manual, and that you asked me to do Paul! Hopefully this can shine some light on where I went wrong! I  am dying being stuck so close to the finish line on this one!

Thanks as always!

S.E.X. Kit / Re: Wire for the S.E.X. kit
« Last post by Paul Birkeland on Yesterday at 05:56:14 AM »
Is it breaking when you strip it or install it?  If you're having trouble stripping it, there are lots of videos and tools floating around to help with the stripping process.  If it's breaking when you go to install it, then you may be using a wire stripper that's digging into the copper during the stripping process, which will weaken the wire and cause it to break.

The cat-5 wire is so small it's very hard to work and it keeps breaking,  does it madder if I take it up a notch to 22 ga. wire. I don't mine twisting the wires together.

Thanks, everyone. Not improvement yet, but I have an appointment with an ATA recommended specialist near the end of the month.

S.E.X. Kit / Just Installed the Iron Upgrade Kit for SEX 2.0
« Last post by Cary on June 01, 2024, 07:12:29 AM »
As the title states I finished the upgrade kit yesterday. I am floored by the difference in sound quality, it produces a very rich sound compared to the stock transformers. Bass is well defined, midrange is great, and the highs clear, it is like having a veil lifted. I purchased the upgrade kit about two years ago and finally got around to installing it, as always the instructions were excellent. My SEX 2.0 was from the first production run and is almost twenty years old. For several years I have demonstrated it in many shows and meets, always receiving complements, until I got the  2.1.

If you have a SEX 2.0 this is a must have, it's like getting a new amplifier. Many thanks to the Bottlehead team for a fantastic upgrade! Here is a photo of my amp:
